We will be doing maintenance on the database tonight beginning at 11pm Pacific time to improve performance. During that time you'll see a message regarding the downtime and we'll promise any backlog into very early Sunday morning. Thank you for the support and for being here!

Last night's maintenance went very well, thank you for your patience. The main issue is indeed a surge of traffic across the fediverse with other instances, not just ours, experiencing a backlog which has caused slowness and timeouts. We had spare equipment on hand to spin up and it seems we're doing better now but we will continue to monitor the queues and support this positive growth of the fediverse.

Welcome to Mastodon v4.1.20. This release fixes a caching bug. Timelines are being rebuilt now and we're adding another server today to assist with the new Twitter / X-exodous which started on Tuesday.
