@eff moving their moderation team into a jurisdiction that intentionally endangers the lives of cis women and all trans people warrants condemnation, not applause

(We also don’t have good enough old-post-finding tools, or I would link to one of my old posts about what those tools need to do)

ShadSterling (shadsterling@mastodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 18-Aug-2024 18:51:28 JST ShadSterling @j12t @damon choosing an instance specific to one of the many subjects that interest me is contrary to how I relate to those communities. I’m not here for a community bulletin board that allows crossposting, I think we’d need a different interaction paradigm for me to want community features, and it wouldn’t involve tying my whole fediverse identity to a single community. What’s supposed to happen if I joined my hometown library’s instance and then moved away?

ShadSterling (shadsterling@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 14-Nov-2023 02:46:47 JST ShadSterling @nixCraft it really sucks that our education system is built around memorization and usually punishes understanding. Competence requires understanding, if our schools prioritize understanding and familiarized students with how to gain understanding, gaining competence (and confidence) and jobs (and hobbies and charity work and so on) would be far more common. And I think people who know how to be competent are also much more inclined to value competence in others
