@meeper @coolboymew and since there isn't really a "single right way to do it" complexity increases more and more, does service depend on another service, does it need to be run as a separate user, does it run in foreground or forks off and creates a PID file, what to do to stop it, how to check if it crashed, do you need to create multiple instances of it, does it needs to be started automatically or triggered by a socket, etc etc etc etc.

Only real complaint IMO is that systemd is run as pid 1, and if pid 1 crashes - everything crashes, and increase of code complexity of pid 1 theoretically increases crash probability. There's also complaint about somewhat monolithic design of it (although "systemd the project" and "systemd the (pid 1) process" are two different things and not everything is built into pid 1 as far as I understand) and hard dependency on it, but linux kernel isn't exactly much different either.
