@nixCraft Mozilla has been in increasingly shaky financial shape, and its moves to diversify (privacy subscriptions, white label VPN, buying and running the Pocket service, etc) havenโt moved the needle.
No need to speculate on Google doing a single thing. Mozillaโs management is simply trying to reduce costs and stop the red ink.
