I’m no fan of cars but “Killer of children” is a scary term out of context, especially when car crashes are around 5 per 100,000 and that’s half what it was in 1999.

30%-40% of land in cities is given over to Cars.
On and on...
How motor-normativty became ingrained is beyond my understanding but perhaps goes to explain why no real care is ahown about climate change as well.
The truly bizzare thing is we know it can be done differently and BETTER as we have actual examples. Eg

The number is only small because so few walk or bike in the US.
But would you have a link for that number of toddlers dying on driveways, @largess ?
50 per week? That's horrific.
And they may not be counted as "traffic fatality" as it happens on private property.

It's true, shepgo, as pointed out in your graphic, that guns have recently replaced car crashes as the leading cause of death for US children and teens. Neither fact is worth celebrating, of course.
We also should note, however, that crash deaths appear to be on the rise once again, perhaps because of too many heavy SUVs with poor sightlines on our roads.
