With each independent project chronically lamenting the lack of developer resources, could maybe the collective time and effort spread across these projects be pooled into a grand unified endeavor?

@fsf JShelter deals with threats after they have been loaded (and potentially some damage already done). I would call this a blacklisting tool. Most web threats/annoyances can be bypassed entirely with whitelisting toolsets. No class of web page assets, except maybe images, should ever be loaded by the browser without the explicit permission of the browser’s operator.

@a1ba Which reminds me: Windowns users are seemingly incapable of mentally separating driver software from the graphical control panels that expose driver settings to users. To the extent that they believe that when a graphical panel is not present that something is wrong.

I tried LibreJS some time ago as a way to further filter assets behind uMatrix. And, at the time at least, it was cumbersome. LibreJS may have since improved their interface but I haven’t revisited it.

JShelter has been more up to the task of limiting and sanitizing allowed javascript. I also recently evaluated an addon “Policy Control” which allows the completely granular whitelisting of each individual javascript (+ other assets).

Marko, you have not covered the full range of solutions.

It is possible to block or restrict js which you do not want to load, while accepting those which are necessary for desired functionality. I still agree that it is a good idea to avoid modern websoytes but that doesn’t mean they need to be abandoned altogether.
