    Heydrich gently tossed another sheet of paperwork aside before his signature had a chance to dry. He was catching up through the endless paperwork that seemed to haunt the ARSSA. He kept glancing upward at the clock, just above the door – it was a little past ten, and he let out a sigh. This would be a grueling affair – catching up on what seemed to be an extensive papertrail going back months, if not years.

    Then, breaking the silence in the room, the rapping of knuckles could be heard.

    “Come in.” Heydrich said in Russian.

    The door swung open – it was Ivan, holding a stack of papers and struggling to stop them from slipping out, as he slammed them on his desk, adding to the mound of paperwork already there.

    “I was organizing that…” Heydrich growled, as Ivan turned pale. The young Russian soldier was clearly not used to deskwork, as he stammered out an apology. The Reichsofficer’s hand lifted up a sheet of paper from the top, glancing over at Ivan expectantly.

    “S-sir?”

    “What’s all this?”

    “Police reports. About the worker’s unions and communist agitators – all of it recent. The archive department claimed it was an uptick by at least forty percent… And arrests have doubled for civil unrest.” Ivan explained, as Heydrich nodded.
    “Concerning. Why do we know about these socialist worker’s unions and not just stamp them out?” Heydrich said, lunging for the heart of the issue as Ivan shook his head.

    “Every time we do, another union seems to take it’s place. And with the war in the East – not to mention the recent attacks at home… It’s getting worse, sir. More people are joining and taking to the streets, protesting.”

    Heydrich gave a grid nod to Ivan, looking down at his new collection of paperwork as Ivan began to walk away, closing the large wooden door behind him.

    “Ivan. Thank you for your help.” Heydrich added – right as Ivan looked back and gave a nod, closing the door.
    It would be a long night indeed.
