@santiagolmtz European and Asian cities were developed before zoning laws were a thing so it makes sense.

There is a very simple way to have "walkable-cities" without any central planning or any of that 15-minute, smart-city crap. Just allow residential and commercial zones to mix. Allow people with big enough houses to run shops in them.

I know a lot of local stores and restaurants that were renovated from former houses. Just remove the walls between the kitchen and living room, and have the bedrooms be employee offices then you will have enough space to run a store.

You can take that one step further. Why not have a house with a store attached? A garage can be converted into a small shop or you can have the other side of a duplex be a store. Japan has tons of houses with stores attached. There are even apartment building with something like a 7/11 at the bottom.

See? A simple solution that doesn't involve demolishing entire towns and rebuilding them or building expensive railways that would require evicting a bunch of people and destroying their homes just to make room. Car-dependent cities are a result of central planning, not the other way around.

It seems like the horse-paste meme medicine is also an effective treatment for cancer as well as other diseases and conditions like epilepsy, asthma, and HIV.

Maybe we would've known that earlier if it wasn't a prescription medicine (outside of the loophole of buying it for horses) and it's probably going to stay that way as long as big pharma is in bed with big government.

@beardalaxy @Tadano Buy once vs subscription model doesn't matter. They can still change the EULA or add anti-features at any time.

I think it's fine now, but it's something to look out for. Though given the size of the time, it's possible that they might open-source it later on and instead receive funding through the Patreon/Liberapay model.

@beardalaxy @Tadano I think it's a good idea to prefer FOSS tools over proprietary tools even if you don't plan on making open-source games. Just look at the ridiculous license restrictions when it comes to using something like Unity or Unreal. You are at the mercy of what their EULAs dictate unless you want to get sued. You also have these engines embedding telemetry into your game and there is nothing you can do about it unless you are really good at reverse engineering.

I'm actually nostalgic for a lot of these products/services because some of them were quite nice and even superior to what Google later put out. Like I really prefer Google Video over YouTube because Google Video actually allowed you to download the videos, even if it was in their proprietary video format. YouTube never officially allowed you to do that, even before monetization was a thing.

Google Desktop was also nice even though it was most likely used for Google to datamine your hard-drive. It contained gadgets which were basically web-apps, so you could play some flash games on your desktop (I was too dumb to learn that you can simply download the SWFs back then).
