I finished my journey through Mad Max (1979). The plot was simple but the driving and crash stunts were fantastic. (avoiding major spoilers) One of the major points of the film was Max's desire to hold onto what humanity and his connection to sanity and civilization, but these were torn from him by the gang of road pirates. After this Max goes on a roaring rampage of revenge, and by the end of the film, things that were holding him back like old ties to society and sanity are gone. I liked the combination of Western concepts blended into a slouching-towards-dystopia world. Storytellers who run Cyberpunk might get some ideas for Nomad gangs from the film, and it could also be used for ideas on running Cops in settings outside of major areas full of redneck gonks in the middle of nowhere. If you like dystopic cinema or revenge stories, or are into something that feels like it could be at home on the grindhouse circuit, this is a fine choice. -

@noyoushutthefuckupdad I've seen the mst3k ep of Manos about 22 times. I have the un-msted version of Manos on Blu-ray.
It's a flawed film but it's interesting. As a viewer I could tell the filmmaker was doing the best he could on limited funds and resources. With a slightly better script and a bigger budget, Manos could have been a pretty okay horror film. -

@noyoushutthefuckupdad They mention Attack of the Giant Leeches and The Killer Shrews in the article. If you ever want to watch those, I recommend the eps of MST3K featuring those movies. They're not good on their own.
