Even the fall of the Japanese Empire is attributed to the Hitler myth, it was obviously an unrelated event that was later absorbed into the greater "World War" myth cycle.

One thing I noticed in the great barbell-ification of society, is looking at men from previous generations is that while they were generally physically fit, they really weren't massive. Lower body strength was particularly not emphasized, as nobody really had massive legs, even men who worked in physically demanding jobs. Nowadays a guy is likely to have much larger legs either because he's fat, or he trains them far more than anyone ever did in previous generations.
