Lower body strength was particularly not emphasized, as nobody really had massive legs, even men who worked in physically demanding jobs. Nowadays a guy is likely to have much larger legs either because he's fat, or he trains them far more than anyone ever did in previous generations. - Kenny Blankenship likes this.
