@coolboymew@Fullmetal2255@rlier23 I should also add too, when I mean American auto industry I mean the "big 3". The import companies still make sedans and smaller cars, they're importing them and the people buying sedans either associate them with quality or want a Nissan from a dodgy dealer offering everyone a loan.
Then when these cars get repo'd, well the drivers are thinking of only the next few minutes ahead of the consequences. Some will drive off to try to "beat" the repo guy (it's not their car), but will cause so much damage that "if they can't have the car, nobody can. Meanwhile there will be tracking devices and all installed on cars, I've seen cars repo'd in a thrift store parking lot of all places before.
Or this dumbass who decided he should pull a gun on a tow driver and threatened to shoot cops too, ended up in a police standoff over a Dodge Charger and arrested with tons of charges (and losing his car, guns, and freedom). https://youtu.be/mU_JJyRCadQ
The American auto industry is fake shit on top of fake shit. They only make SUVs mostly now (aside from the Chevy Malibu and luxury cars) because that's what they make the most money from, they offer leases/loans so people can pretend to own cars, and they don't seem to think gas prices will go up or that customers will default.
I should look on YouTube to see if any repo fails went viral, some of them are funny as shit and I've seen some repos that are basically "fuck you", like people putting razor blades in cars and whatnot.
One of the reasons Americans didn't buy diesel cars en masse is they don't see the 40mpg number but the $3.xx a gallon price when gas was $2.xx as an example. Or they'd have some miniscule complaint or think of the ones from the 1980s and avoid it at the dealer. They think of paying more at the pump, not how often you're filling up at the pump. This is why Americans bought hybrids instead, that and Toyota pushed it.
This is also why many believe EVs are pollution free and efficient. There's no filling up (number on the screen) and theres no tailpipe, only at the power plant you never see because it's at the outskirts of town so it's not your problem.
The "but I already had breakfast" logic applies to so many it's not even funny.
@dcc as long as it's not a power4/5 you're good Those have the athlon xp/tegra 2 problem of not supporting smid instruction sets a CPU of that era should support, in this case altivec. As a result nothing supports them because every ppc64 build assumes altivec is supported because of the popular ppc970 (which everyone using ppc64 Linux has in their Mac)
