     @dcc the problem is, OpenBSD doesn't work on Power7 or hypervisored Open Firmware systems.

     So you're basically using Linux, and the distro support is a shot in the dark given many have broken installers on IBM hardware.

     @dcc as long as it's not a power4/5 you're good
     Those have the athlon xp/tegra 2 problem of not supporting smid instruction sets a CPU of that era should support, in this case altivec. As a result nothing supports them because every ppc64 build assumes altivec is supported because of the popular ppc970 (which everyone using ppc64 Linux has in their Mac)
