    @DarkMahesvara @hispanicweeb Mozilla's top priority is just paying their directors bonuses, and sucking google's dick, since they made themselves financially dependent on them. I became aware of that again by following the tragedy that is JPEG-XL (non-)adoption. It's better than Google's ugly kitbashed pseudo image formats (they're all just video intra frames), but doesn't get adopted because Google doesn't have full control over it, since it's a proper standard, not some strong-armed bullshit a monopoly made up.
    Mozilla decided to sabotage JXL the moment their keeper decided that the format needs to die.

    @Vidmastereon @rlier23 Fuck 8-4 - Even after I miraculously mustered the self-control to temporarily calm down over the censorship of Xenoblade Chronicles X, the shitty voice acting made my ears bleed so hard that after 40 hours of gameplay I just couldn't continue. I got rid of that shit and imported the original Xenoblade X and a JP Wii U. Yes, localization can be so fucking bad, that someone buys the fucking worst console in the history of mankind twice. I had a lot of fun playing the original, and will forever avoid games with "chronicles" in the title.

And after that also Zun ordering DLsite (edit: iirc just the English DLsite, not the JP one) to cease distributing r-18 touhou doujin. Just 2 cases that come to mind.
    Another case that ended with a positive example was Negima! (the one with only the exclamation mark in the title), where the publisher Kodansha tried to make Akamatsu Ken sign away more of his rights, so that they could fuck doujin artists. They didn't realize that Akamatsu Ken had his beginnings in the doujin scene and still advocates for it. He got royally pissed and fucked over the manga's entire story to end it early and show the middle finger to Kodansha. It was later rebooted, and he enforced his own terms in the new contract that prevent the publisher from fucking over people again.

    Never rely on wikipedia. After a long time I wanted to check if there are any interesting new photogrammetry projects, and thought of checking if there is a comparison page. There is one, and it doesn't even list VisualSFM and fucking AliceVision/Meshroom, or rather, is just an ad-page for proprietary commercial software: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_photogrammetry_software
    Turns out there used to be a long list, but a lobby-bought moderator has had free reign deleting everything, got god status at some point and nobody is allowed to question the guy.
    People have been calling this shit out since 2018, but the industry seems to have an iron grip on everything photogrammetry related there. There is no way nobody ever wrote articles for those open source projects. Most likely they got deleted.
