hmm if u had to buy a new laptop for using only Linux on, what would you get?
I may splurge on something if I get into a good PhD program next year

hey everyone, am trying to do more writing this summer!
wrote a little blog post about what I would want from a mini stdlib in C
https://blog.prydt.xyz/posts/what-i-want-from-a-c-stdlib/
pls give me feedback!! i welcome the hatemail 😈
after reading a really good blog. ive decided.
im just going to blog a lot. write a lot. i got so happy looking at these random peoples blogs and the writing wasnt even particularly good or anything. it was just really nice to see.
i want to add to this. im going to try to write much more regularly
@lain I'm wormpilled every day of the week 😤
good morning !!! where my morningcels at? any breakfastmaxxers?
@lain what about File IO?
ive been thinking about writing a distributed database and ik riak and stuff like rabbit mq have been written in erlang / elixir... think its still suitable for that sort of thing?
@lain yooo nice
how has it been?
@icedquinn I've just been collecting them at this point 😭😭😭
I've heard the term "petina" more times this week than the entire rest of my life
have just been getting into the "everyday objects should be beautiful" and "handmade" sides of the Internet and it is very relaxing and nice. I'm not someone who really wants to put as much effort as some of these people on things like making a bed everyday, separating whites in laundry, etc.
but I have been getting into more pen and paper stuff!
finally finished it!
Bruno Latour's Science in Action is actually so amazing... I definitely started to lose track of a few things due to finals season and the different terms he's using but I'm going to skim over it again lightly
@Arcana interesting. i think i would agree with Marx's critiques of capitalism at least to an extent. would you say the harm is caused by people pushing for radical change?
i do think a lot of the worlds problems are caused by capitalism. (i say this and believe in capitalism to an extent as well)
the fact that the web hasnt killed PDF yet as a format is actually so sad to me
like PDF is genuinely such a terrible format...
ive been trying out Helix (text editor) and honestly it has been so nice!!
i understand and like the changes they have made to the traditional vim keybindings and its made it make more sense honestly
BUT i am way more used to vim already at this point and everything else that i use uses vim keybindings and its really confusing switching between kakoune (/helix) keybindings and vim keybindings all the time
oh another thing: Helix works 100% perfectly out of the box. its genuinely like magic.
no need to go through the anguish of doing neovim LSP bullshit, it just automatically does it for all the languages i have LSPs installed for!
all of the defaults are pretty much exactly what id like in a text editor.
ive been writing Go with it and it auto "go fmt"s everything every time i save automatically.
idk its the little things that make me wanna use this and never touch vim again
@shibao whoaaaa what are u gonna see w it!
@7666 @fieldofdisarray WAIT ARE YALL DATING
