Okay so this is definitely leading to some UX changes at as:Public. I do not want it to be *possible* for someone to be this retarded with the data.

Also, at the moment, there is absolutely no record of where a post came from. This is sorta bad for keeping people from shitting up the db with false data, but is kinda great for not giving stupid people wrong paths to almost-intentionally follow.

Having also dealt with pretty much every step of this process before, I may have to write an LE guide to fedi. Which is absolutely disgusting but may lead to *less* pain and assache in the long run.

One of the eventual goals of as:Public is that parts of it can be told to expose directories where it just dumps bundles of what it's collected. As in, the data can just be wgotten and parsed. I'm waiting on someone to "demand" access to their data under the GDPR before releasing that.

When I say "where a post came from", I mean, who told us about it. In theory, any instance can send modified and/or fictitious statuses down the websockets API. It sounds like BoardReader thinks FSE is a forum and is scraping it as such; and I don't think there's such a thing as federated forum software.

I'm planning out a hidden "source" record that shows a chain from instance to collector to whatever created the archive you're viewing, if at all. In a scenario where anybody can swap and share bundles of statuses with anybody else, you'd want at least a chance of identifying horseshit statuses by where you got them from.
