I’m getting a good start to Pride week already. The bigots are outing themselves.

The LGBT+ community demanding our full rights as human beings to treated equally in society and under the law. That it’s too much for you and makes you resort to slurs says everything about ya’ll.

I feel sorry for the people forced to interact with you. They deserve better.

What an incredibly bad take.

I expect society to be inclusive. The only accommodating that is required is to give us a fully equal playing field. And that requires people not to act with bigotry and hatred towards the entire LGBT+ community, whether they like how they look or who they love.

It’s not hate I’m expressing, but resistance to those who have broken the social contract.

It’s not okay to persecute people just because they are different. Rubbing people’s noses in that isn’t hate, it’s standing up for ourselves. It’s having boundaries and drawing a line.

So I intend to make people who are **being bigots** actively uncomfortable with their own hatred. Whether that’s a t-shirt, a sign, and expression of love toward my fellow queer folk, kissing someone of the same sex, or or going arm and arm with my trans family and friends.

They are in pain because of society putting enormous pressure on them to conform to a pattern that doesn’t fit and treating them like shit. You are blaming the victims for their oppression here.

When trans people are not just tolerated but accepted by a family member or close friend, those suicide numbers go way down. And even more when a community supports them. And they are generally very happy in the spaces where they feel comfortable to be themselves.

As an openly queer small woman I am delighted to hang out with people where I can talk about myself and my interests freely. But put me in an environment where people are othering me, crowding me, and making nasty comments, and I’m miserable. (I live in a deep red state, there are plenty of people telling me I’m going to hell, and worse.) But going back in the closet isn’t an option, because pretending not to be fully myself is also terrible for my mental health.
