Hadn't seen this before in #GNOME:
#cccamp23 was amazing, as usual. I feel like there were more changes in organizational decisions compared to the previous ones, most having turned out very positive. 👍
@lain @kaia The good thing about ingesting poison regularly is that it makes your body good at dealing with poisons.
A team of researchers has trained language models with translations of Akkadian cuneiform writings, and now we can instantly translate the hundreds of thousands of remaining clay tablets that are just sitting around in vaults.

I love when people have principles they live by.

@deadsuperhero Why is interoperability between open protocols "not good"? If you don't want your posts to be public, you can set your profile or posts to not be public. Otherwise, you're posting publicly on the open Web, via an open protocol that nobody needs permission to use or interoperate with.
As a user, you can block bridge accounts, or the whole bridge, the same way you would do it with any other fedi instance.
@lain To be fair, central banks have utterly destroyed the savings function of fiat money, so if you try to save in it, it's easy to see how you can end up blaming the system for not getting anywhere.
It's actually Divide & Conquer, not EEE, and some of you are falling for it faster than I can say the words.

Found Thai Basil saplings growing in the compost bin! 🎉
Sowed some more for good measure. Can never have enough for pad kraprao...
@pjals OK, sure. OpenLLaMA then. Since you just proposed yourself, I'm going to follow you for this. ;)
Who can we follow around here to get updates and learn more about running #selfhosted #opensource language models and APIs (LLaMA, Alpaca, etc.)?
We're playing around with this stuff over here, and would like to offer it to our community members eventually. But no time or motivation to dive too deep into the topic, other than running what's available tbh.
This guy makes amazing arm chairs, some of which have legacy fiat notes inlaid on the sides: https://bitchair.store
(He'll personally deliver to you within 1200km of Prague.)
Fun fact: I've been paying for plenty of things via #LightningNetwork all day today, and every single transaction was considerably faster than my VISA debit usually is. Feels instant, and we at @kosmos only have a small node with 13 channels open right now.
We've come a long way since the reckless days less than 5 years ago!
BTC Prague is way more fun than I expected. Mute this thread if you're not interested in my posts about it...
Firstly, a message we should all be able to agree on:
Look, people, I really can't keep up with your Linus-wrath-considered-harmful vs Linus-wrath-is-good cycles. Could you at least apply whatever logic you're using consistently to all his wrath? Thanks! 🙏
#Bluesky should have been an #ActivityPub implementation, adding DIDs as a new optional feature, and competing with Mastodon and other implementations (both servers and clients) on the count of portable identity and data storage.
I'd be happy to learn why backwards compat would have been impossible. I don't see any major blockers at first glance.
