@deadsuperhero Why is interoperability between open protocols "not good"? If you don't want your posts to be public, you can set your profile or posts to not be public. Otherwise, you're posting publicly on the open Web, via an open protocol that nobody needs permission to use or interoperate with.
As a user, you can block bridge accounts, or the whole bridge, the same way you would do it with any other fedi instance.

Fun fact: I've been paying for plenty of things via #LightningNetwork all day today, and every single transaction was considerably faster than my VISA debit usually is. Feels instant, and we at @kosmos only have a small node with 13 channels open right now.

#Bluesky should have been an #ActivityPub implementation, adding DIDs as a new optional feature, and competing with Mastodon and other implementations (both servers and clients) on the count of portable identity and data storage.
I'd be happy to learn why backwards compat would have been impossible. I don't see any major blockers at first glance.
