@Hoss I just don't think it's possible for people to "own" ideas or concepts. That's insane to me. That's clearly not law written in common sense, but law written by corporations for profitization. ---Which, is evident in how convoluted it is: common-sense laws, like "don't kill other people", is straightforward; Copyright and IP laws require pages upon pages of bullshit to justify and explain themselves existing. I'm against copyrights, I'm against patents, I'm against all "intellectual property"---an oxymoronic term/concept. If you can manufacture a product better or cheaper than someone else, regardless if you invented it yourself or not, that's good for innovation and good for the consumer. @dcc@gentoobro@cowanon@LordOfTheKangs
@ins0mniak Wow, beautiful! I've got an X13. I'm not sure what the difference is between the X13 and X13s. Congratulations, friend! I hope it works well for you!
@sun I think the problem was/is that the early cryptocurrencies, like BTC, made for very poor actual cryptocurrencies when it came to exchanging. And, once there were very useful and efficient alternatives, the whole cryptocurrency ship had already sailed and the market was full of useless shit-coins + the entire thing had left a sour taste in people's mouths.
@sun The single biggest and best benefit of cryptocurrency for me (other than the technical aspects) is the ability to completely circumvent payment processors. It's not even that "fiat currency" (these are all fiat currency, the concept of a fiat currency is kinda a spook to me, ultimately) are an issue so much that it's full of controlling, meddling middle-men that all want a share and can arbitrarily cut off your ability to buy/sell goods if you get on their bad side. @arcana
@eemmaa This has always been like the strongest argument to me against Christianity. It's retarded that a god who knows everything and is in control of everything would create a world that he knew was fucked up and then get mad at it and judge it. There is no free will in Christianity because dudebro already knows what we're going to do and has already judged us since the beginning of existence if we're going to hell or heaven.
toot.lgbt went out of their way to scrape this instance in order to issue a #fediblock against it, effectively working as a bad-actor to sabotage the domain.
This is (currently) a single-user instance, the timeline isn't public, and toot.lgbt (plus, all the instances they hang out with) were already blocked via /etc/hosts, meaning federation/communication to/from my server and theirs was impossible---they never saw, nor would have ever seen, any content from this instance (and vice-versa) past the point they were local-host loop-backed via /etc/hosts. Meaning, they purposely went out, and actively sought means of, retrieving content herein (to get upset over and then cry #fediblock).
If this isn't an example of maliciousness then I don't know what is. These Mastodon instances are a terroristic blight upon the Fediverse.
It's so sad seeing women in the process of becoming fat. Like, not there yet, but the beginning symptoms starting to show. Still reversible, but you know it's only going to worsen. Damn shame.
@sun Yeah, Silverpill is working on some super interesting stuff that goes way above my head and I think he's going to hugely benefit the future of the Fediverse. Would be cool if he had more help, seems like it's just him. Mitra is excellent software, so, from that experience, I am very impressed with the work he does. @raccoon@dushman@tyil
@dushman It's literally not. You don't get to force me to be terrorized by your advertising. I have a right to not have my life polluted by that filth.
@dushman Extremely easy. I run Debian for the VM, so I just installed the .deb package. Done. Spun up a basic PostgreSQL database, modified the config file to point to it. Then, just configured Nginx to serve it out. That's it. No other dependencies or having to build from source with other build-dependencies. No other steps required. Just installed it, gave it a database, and served it out. That's it. Amazing. @sun@raccoon@tyil
