@aral Yeah, one would have to be voluntarily blind to not see how the rise of Trump and his fascist and bigoted supporters has also lifted the far right parties out of their hiding spots everywhere else in the world. The political climate of the US is generally replicated 5 to 10 years later in Europe, for example. And now we have a fascist Italian government, police brutality in France, and politicians starting to accuse the left of terrorism and using stupid terms like “woke”…

Wow Horizon Forbidden West is so janky it’s infuriating. The climbing / gliding mechanics are really really terrible. Half the time you’ll miss a jump because Amoy doesn’t respond to button presses or decides to jump 3 inches forward instead of leaping like she’s done 20 times.

It makes navigating the game a real chore.

@nitrogenez I don’t like Doom, mindless monster blasting might be fun, but after 1h I get bored.

I love the story, the combat and the setting of Horizon, but wow did they need to refine the climbing / jumping a lot more.

Wow, so Twitter will actually not show you anyone who hasn’t paid for Blue in its recommendation feed (which is the default, and seems to be set back to the default regularly even if you changed it manually).

That’s not going to annoy people at all. I’m guessing we’re not going to see another spike of Mastodon users.

@Proximity2519 It’s insane how the Musk fanboys don’t see it. There is NO free speech on Twitter. It just has switched political sides, that’s all. And all the measures Musk implements directly go against free speech and the whole « town square » thing he talked about.

@gnome 44 will be released tomorrow, so here is a nice (I hope) recap video with everything new!

From background apps,, thumbnails in the file picker, preferences to disable overlay scrollbars or mouse acceleration, and a few good solid updates to the core apps, it feels like this is a release that listens to user's wishes!

With #Flathub planning to add payments, donations and subscriptions, it seems a lot of people are worried they might turn corporate, and gain too much power on the #Linux app distribution side of things.

While I generally find centralization to be a bad thing, in this case, I feel it carries no risk of creating a problem in the future.

So, here's why I think that, no, Flathub isn't going to turn "evil" or "corporate" just because they add payments to the platform.

Oh what a terrible decision.
Canonical will prevent Ubuntu flavors to come with Flatpak preinstalled, as they want to push snaps.

Kind of a Microsoft-like move here. Really bad.

Slowly but surely, the #openweb is dying: from big companies monopolies, algorithms, and walled gardens that restrict what you can see or do (yes, I know, ironic then to post a youtube video), the various filters countries have put in place, or the full on blackouts and alternative closed webs, it's getting trickier to really have a complete, unbiased access to the full web.

If you're looking for #privacy, the absolute best option is probably setting up your own #homeserver, but if you don't have the technical know how, the time, or the inclination, the next best thing is a #NAS!

These little things let you store files, photos, host websites, run containers, backup your computers, run office suites, all with simple GUIs, and can be cheaper than cloud storage.
