Humility is _so_ necessary to being believable and opening trust. The truth is that the smartest among us is still ignorant of many things (and let's be clear, I'm far from the smartest). I think that our educational system needs a lot of improvements
* critical thinking in middle & high school * effective communications for technical types
@nixCraft I've been happily running VM's on KVM for almost 2 decades and XEN before that. For those who want a user interface that's simpler than the CLI, cockpit does the job just fine.
Why would anyone use VMWare workstation, rapidly becoming a dead end, rather than a free, or supported, Linux distro where they can at least develop transferable skills?
I'll concede that, for individuals working for companies sticking with VMware it's different though...
@eff Thanks as always for the information & the way you help us all fight back. I continue to repost & to promote your work financially & to wear my EFF clothing which have started a few excellent chats.
The most immediate way I choose to fight back against intrusion is through privacy enhancing techniques found in the "Extreme Privacy" books ( https://inteltechniques.com/index.html), https://www.privacytools.io/ and similar services too numerous to list here. There's a LOT, start small, fight back.
@itsfoss I use Joplin[1] synchronized through my NextCloud instance.
Keeps my notes, reminders, to do's, even a check list for making sure I sort all 15 or so of my meds into my pill minder each weekend encrypted and easily accessible on each of my Linux machines, my GrapheneOS phone and iPhone.
And it integrates with biometric auth on my phones for an extra layer privacy & security. They have a solid hosted service for a modest fee but I self host for free.
Frankly I am, generally, pro #lawenforcement. Several friends and family members serving there who I am proud of and confident in. But I can read the news well enough to know that not all of them are like my crew.
