I have Arch as my main driver that I use for almost everything and then Linux Mint on another partition as my stable fallback when things don't work. (And sadly right now ROCm is messed up for me in Arch, so Mint gets to be the driver for that.)

10 was already horrible. I pretty much need third party solutions or a heck of a lot of time tracking down registry entries to keep it from basically sending MS my social security number and a feed of my bathroom. 11 is tough even to clean with third party tools and registry entries and judicious blocks at the router firewall...

Then they started backporting some of the bad stuff to 10 along with Copilot. I'm scared even to let my systems update anymore. MS may be less safe to trust than random hackers on the Internet.

And now they're trying to force out Recall even after everyone said no so hard they had to pretend to change their minds once before. I'm done. I'm just done. I finally made the true switch.

@nixCraft It's not theory. By rebooting it goes to a "before unlocked state" which means encryptions aren't decrypted yet, things aren't accessible even to the owner, etc etc. Once you first unlock your phone after a reboot it unlocks access to your data and there are then potentially ways to gain access to that while the phone is still powered up. By rebooting it loses this. Android has a before unlocked state too when rebooted. It's not really about rebooting to fix anything, just to switch back to that.

I actually keep wondering if there is any way to get Android devices to do this. In some ways I almost would rather that just simply locking the screen sent it back to a before locked state even.

Closest I know of is lockdown mode, but it doesn't unmount encryption.

Should those floppies be quite so close to the driver (and one satellite right on a floppy drive)?
