This was my (former) roommate when it was time to move apart. He had hoarder syndrome so bad, there was hardly room for him in the new and much smaller apartment he had to move to. That guy simply can't live small.

@Zergling_man @amerika There's no real argument for imperial units. The entire continent of Europe operates without it, including heavy industry. Several continents do. I'm not saying you can't do the same with imperial units. Of course you can. But it's not *superior*. Equal at best.

@amerika @Zergling_man This is literally just because you live in a county that hasn't transitioned to metric. Live in Europe and your units will suddenly be the impractical ones.

As a European, I had zero intuition for temperatures in Fahrenheit until I interacted with Americans on the Internet. That scale simply didn't exist for me. Fahrenheit is what Americans feel like, if you ask me...

The comedy short videos that are popular on the Internet these days are so low-brow. Really basic slapstick that even a monkey would grasp.

It's not even tasteful slapstick like Charlie Chaplin or Rowan Atkinson. Those guys were creative and tasteful in their use of it.

It's too tasteless that any respectable broadcaster would ever air it. But the algorithm is only happy to connect dumb videos to dumb viewers. And unfortunately, there are a lot of dumb people out there.

There are two types of people:

a) I will Google chemical names, ignore the lack of evidence for their effects, and buy giant pill boxes that supposedly contain these chemicals from non-reputable suppliers. 🤡

b) I refuse to eat this food because it contains "dihydrogen monoxide" and "sodium chloride", which are chemicals, and all chemicals are bad. 🤡

Most switch debouncing calculators assume a circuit like this (1). Looks like a recipe for destroying a switch. The cap will short to ground and immediately dump all its current into the switch, potentially creating an arc and burning the switch over time.

I've seen better diagrams with a resistor between the cap and the switch (2), but none of the online calculators assume such a circuit.

There's also a version with the switch in between two resistors (3). In that case, the recharge time IS affected by the second resistor. It supposedly keeps a minimum current flowing through the switch to prevent corrosion. Doesn't sound like something that would seriously affect a momentary switch, which is what I'm using for my application.

I'm sitting here and running a mental SPICE simulation on these to decide on which one's best.

@gadgetoid Software is eating the world. The industry is turning every electrical engineer into a software engineer. Nothing is components and everything is just chips. Meanwhile, I'm a former software engineer who is tired of that job and is happy whenever there is an alternative to software. What I'm building isn't strictly necessary in 2024. 10 musical synthesisers can be replaced with a single laptop. But what a boring world it would be where everything is just a computer.

These graphs are useless. Flatline and then up. That's what "trending" means.
