     @Zergling_man @amerika @thor Americans don't even use imperial. They just use approximations. "Oh, this is about the size of an open hand", "oh, this weighs about as much as a popular car" and shit like that.
     For fucks sake, their news sources measure things in corgis and baby elephants in a "scientific" section of the news.

     @amerika @thor You're still wrong. Converting 1000 to 1k, 1000k to 1m, etc. at every step in every unit is always going to be easier than, what is it... 12 to 1 then 81 to 1 or something?
     Imperial is never practical. You keep talking about this "good for daily use" thing but you haven't actually backed it up at any point. Metres are good for measuring distance, cm are good for measuring height, grams and kg are good for measuring bags of groceries, etc.

     I disagree here. The imperial systems lend themselves to the types of uses one encounters in everyday life. Metric may be more familiar in Europe, but flip your argument around: if they tried imperial, it might suddenly be more practical.

     @amerika @Zergling_man This is literally just because you live in a county that hasn't transitioned to metric. Live in Europe and your units will suddenly be the impractical ones.

     It works better for day-to-day tasks, while metric is an "on paper" theory. Imperial units are the common law.

     @Zergling_man @amerika There's no real argument for imperial units. The entire continent of Europe operates without it, including heavy industry. Several continents do. I'm not saying you can't do the same with imperial units. Of course you can. But it's not *superior*. Equal at best.

     Yes, makes more sense for day-to-day tasks. Basement nerds will prefer metric because like pegging it is optimal for theory.

     @Zergling_man @amerika @thor There are quite a lot of ways that imperial is retarded, but there are very good arguments for it.
     
     If I want to measure a small-med distance, I can use my feet. If I want to use something in a recipe I can use any cup in my cabinet. It's not to say you cannot do these things in metric, but it makes far more intuitive sense when using the words. No need for a measuring cup or a measuring tape.
     
     Also metric weight is just scientists using a block of metal and saying "this is the weight now". That to me is incredibly arbitrary too.

     @realman543 @Zergling_man @amerika @thor Did you know that metric doesn't have 1/3 ? btw the only real difference between the two is base of 10 and base of 12. As well imperial is based of real objects for measurement, metric is based of real objects no one used for measurement.

     @dcc @amerika @realman543 @thor @Zergling_man Divisibility by 3 is a nice little benefit of feet. Fractions are handy in carpentry.
     
     A liter of water (or anything similar) weighs a kilo and is 1/1000th of a cubic meter. This comes in handy more often than you'd think.
     
     Both systems have little benefits and downsides. Mainly Celsius is dumb.
