i 100% understand the desire to be able to get your things done right away.

problem is that spam bots and click farms exist.

and GPT-4 will only make it worse.

here's an unfair way of reducing spam: can you pay? then you get access to the API.

this eliminates 99% of spam bots. that's how it works on Nostr - a social network that isn't super far off from fedi. it takes a different approach, but many goals are shared. and as it turns out - if you demand payment, 99% of the spam disappears. like it or not.

i can't explain why, but the Norwegian word for eyeball is "øyeeple" - eye apple

clickbait has a trashy feel to it, but sometimes, behind it, you will actually find content that isn't super trashy. it's just that the non-trashy creatives realise that they'll get more clicks if they use trash tactics.

the Scandinavian languages don't distinguish between "is" and "are"

@Hyolobrika either platform may allow nazi point of views to exist. i'm not sure what is true. but finding <random post X> is probably less of a reliable sample than <entire person abandoned a platform>.

one of them had tried out Nostr and complained that admins there are as keen on censoring "our type of free speech" as admins on fedi are.

so anyway, that guy said he's back on fedi again. we're more nazi-friendly than Nostr. 💀

@Hyolobrika i'm assuming that this guy i overheard had was averaging together all his experiences with both platforms and was finding that Nostr was either no better, or a bit worse, at kicking him out

@Hyolobrika after all, if Nostr had kicked him out less frequently, he would've stayed

so it would seem that he found that, on average, fedi will kick you out less often for being a nazi.

Nostr is a lot like fedi except there are no instances. only relays, and clients talk to them directly. clients are typically connected to about a dozen default relays by default.

so, a correction: perhaps we are even more likely to allow nazi point of views than Nostr is.
