Vegetarians and vegans need to work a little harder to get their protein. For example, tofu has about 8 grams of protein per 100 grams, whereas chicken breast has 31 grams. But why, on a biological level, does meat generally contain so much more protein than plants do? @LiveScience explains: https://flip.it/gzn_7A #Science#Health#Nutrition#Vegetarian#Vegan#Diet
Hi, everyone. My name is Jean. Looking to connect with people here! I will follow you back! :D
Recently finished a PhD in cybersecurity, but quit academia right away. I just can't work there lol. I work in data by day, but Im a fulltime human rights activist and have spoken at various fora against digital dictatorship and BigTech's regulatory capture. I am a socialist and I have been for awhile now. I am working closely with various grassroot movement particularly within the digital rights/labour space.
I am into FLOSS, #privacy and #humanrights. I have foul mouth and I own it. Outside of my activism, I enjoy walking my dog, Heidi, #vegan food, gaming, programming #python, #dadjokes and makeup.
Found a tastey communist #vegan burrito bowl in #Duluth at Burrito Union. Good food, beer menu, and a vibe you just don't encounter every day on the northshore in #Minnesota. Check it out if you like burritos, beer, and exploring off the beaten path.
Don't get me wrong: It's good if individuals do "their part" in tackling the climate crisis, by changing their habits and lifestyles, but blaming them, when its clearly the #capitalist system's fault is just wrong.
Be #vegan, consume sustainably, ride your #bike, don't fly. There are many good reasons to do so, e.g.: 👉 it's the right thing to do 👉 it's healthy 👉 you're a role-model for others 👉 if many people do this, it slightly changes how companies act. 👉 it fosters your awareness for the issues
But also be aware that its a droplet on a hot stone. Non-wealthy individuals won't fix the climate with their daily choices. We have to *demand* action by the big players. And I don't mean blame China! All of us need to demand radical climate action by our governments.
A late breakfast at a Hanamaru Udon outlet in town. Went for a small bowl of chilled udon with grated daikon and soy sauce, with a topping of a mixed veg tempura.
A cheap and quick noodle fix that’s #vegan if you aren’t too strict with the fact that the deep frying oil will have been used for non-vegetable tempura too.
Why are self called "meat eaters" triggered by my sustainable life style?
It's not like I destroy the planet they are living on or harm any living being with my life style or have any negative impact on anything, except of destructive world views.
And instead of having a constructive discussion, they insult me and others, who are living like me.
