"Swedish MEP’s silent protest – ‘There are no more words to say on Gaza’"
"A Swedish Member of the European Parliament has spent most of her allotted speaking time at an EU parliamentary session in silence to protest Israel’s war on Gaza."
Abir al-Sahlani concluded by saying that there were “no more words to speak about what’s going on in Gaza” & that “human rights have a skin colour”.
Astronauts from Turkey, Italy and Sweden return to Earth, ending private space station trip.
AP reports the three countries "financed the mission, paying roughly $55 million apiece. It was Axiom’s third private mission to the space station; the fourth is planned later this year."
@laurie_garrett@birdsite > @martinmckee@birdsite >> Remember when #Sweden advocated a "herd immunity" approach to #COVIOD19 -- no lockdowns, just let the virus spread. And Sweden's epidemic was the deadliest per capita in northern Europe. Here is a stunning account of how this happened. https://twitter.com/martinmckee/status/1506730551952113667 > So many times I was asked “But Sweden …” > Now we have a detailed, and damning account of what went wrong. “drastic deviation from 280 years of respect for scientific facts” A reminder that a well prepared country with expertise +++ can go terribly wrong https://www.nature.com/articles/s41599-022-01097-5 > "The Public Health Agcy labelled advice from national scientists & intl authorities as extreme positions, resulting in media & political bodies to accept their own policy instead. The Swedish people were kept in ignorance of basic facts such as the airborne #SARSCoV2..." "...transmission, that asymptomatic individuals can be contagious & that face masks protect both the carrier & others. Mandatory legislation was seldom used; recommendations relying upon personal responsibility & w/out any sanctions were the norm." > "Many elderly people were administered morphine instead of oxygen despite available supplies, effectively ending their lives." #COVID19 in #Sweden > BTW, the genius behind Sweden's no-lockdowns, no-masks #COVID19 policies was Anders Tegnell. Care to guess where he is now? As of Mar 9 he's "coordinating the COVID #vaccine response" @Who https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/architect-swedens-light-touch-covid-response-gets-job-who-2022-03-09/ https://twitter.com/Laurie_Garrett/status/1506738022775238670
@jonben@prosaluxemburg@samuel As a Turk who cannot go back to Turkey because I “insulted” Erdoğan and his autocratic regime, it lets me know we have allies and, having lived several years in Sweden, it’s actually nice to see that not all Swedes cower behind “Swedish neutrality” and that some even have the guts to actually take a stand when it matters. So, yes, it works for me.
