One has codeine, the other has DXM which is garbage for the most part. It's hard to take enough DXM to notice anything and there is a hangover that goes with it.

Codeine is just a weak opiate. A whole bottle of cough syrup is probably equivalent to 4-5 hydrocodone.

Rappers bragging about either are foolish and have caused a lot of people to get hooked on opiates since a bottle of cough syrup that costs $5-$10 to fill goes for $100 or more sometimes according to what I've read when I looked up what the hell "lean" was.
