He must have installed a really large one. I've seen plenty of farms use the old fashioned wind turbines - some actually are low maintenance and actually more efficient than the modernity aesthetic counterparts. VAWT are actually really suck btw, I repost the image as a meme.

The most problematic thing are the blades that get eaten up, bearings seize from dust and tornadoes seem to LOVE THEM (such expensive tastes). It is a lot of bullshit to deal with for diminished reward as opposed to making a still, getting a generator and having solid back up power - Amps is really the key figure.

The only way I would install a wind turbine is if my demand was literally just keeping a series of small batteries charged to drive a digital appliance/relay/LoRa repeater. Doesn't require a lot of power.

I've seen plans on how to build Axial Flux turbines and of course 3D printed blade fins you could make out of recovered PET. This could work for such relays, but why?
