@Giganova8 @veff Video games are weird though, they ARE kinda lightswitchy, because you get the taste for life without them and when you go back you feel offended, they're a lot harder to enjoy. I get pissed when I try out new games and see that I'm running digital errands for NPCs, the brands just don't value your time as a player, they're filled with all kinds of boring, make-work fluff. I'd like to pick up flight sim dogfighting or factorio or something, gotta save it for retirement or playing w/ kids in the future.
We've all got our vices and pleasures, I don't begrudge people theirs - I just don't like it when we help each other lie and pretend they aren't vices at all. The only man I'll really tear into about gaming is a father - it's insanely offensive to watch friends lucky enough to be blessed with children expect to live like they did in college. Have seen genX marriages fail like that too. Dad comes home to have 3 days off and he spends it all playing warcraft in the basement with the door closed - those are hours of fathering time his children are robbed of forever, all so he can basically masturbate. It's ludicrous, and it turns me into a raving crazy man because most of the girls in the fam somehow married these guys, and I see the way their sons' eyes light up when I show even the tiniest interest in their lives - they want daddy's attention, but he's too busy spending time with his "friends" on a 17 hour raid attempt
