I’m talking the bare minimum where you walk into a gun store and buy a $550 ruger/S&W, toss it under your bed, and throw a few boxes of ammo under there. It’s about as cheap as you can imagine such a weapon system ever being in terms of time/upkeep/proficiency/cost, and all kinds of normies do it every day. Takes you maybe 2 hours out of your life, and however many labor hours to own. Now you have a competent arm for your progeny to one day survive, should the worst come to pass. Phenomenally cheap. Swords, armbrusts, spears, etc were far costlier in terms of how much work you’d invest, and how ineffective they would be at defeating ranged masses of enemies
A guy who’s jacked into our world, who can’t even do THAT - at least if he has the money to tie up in it - is basically a 12 year old in a fat old body
