Xi did a really effective job purging their elite of any western subversives. Some of them were eliminated outright, and others like Jack Ma were taken out to the CCP breakin' barn for like eight months to be reminded who the boss really is.

I think China learned a lot watching the billionaire class run wild in America doing pretty much whatever the fuck they wanted over the past few decades. Xi knows you have to keep these pricks on a real tight leash and remind them that the nice life of luxury they live can be taken away in an instant if they start serving any interests other than China.
