@c @sickburnbro What WOULD be interesting is a general operating at a forward deployed base declaring independence from that distance. Whoever runs the bases at Guam could just declare a military dictatorship in that space alone, or the full bird running a FOB at Iraq could try to set up a micro state. Now THAT'S a doable semi-coup that could damage American power and kick off an international diplomatic crisis.

@SuperLutheran @sickburnbro @c I'm reminded of @WashedOutGundamPilot talking about how most of their stuff is designed around being able to ship highly specialized replacement parts across the globe within 24 hours, and probably not by accident.

@c @sickburnbro The American military is structured to prevent coups. Forward deployment of bases puts distance between armaments and D.C., troops can't have personal weapons except under lock&key at base armory, etc. They figured something like a coup was a possibility.
