I think in general what attracts people to Rorschach more than anything philosophical is that in a superhero comic he's literally the only guy who acts even remotely heroic. He's the guy killing pedos and scaring the criminal element that normal people have to deal with. On the flip side, Moore set out to make a deconstruction funny book about superheroes and how silly the concept, so the fact that people like the superhero man in the superhero deconstruction comic probably risk him something fierce.

     @VidMasterEon @SNEK @DrRyanSkelton @Rudolf_von_Goldenbaum @bleedingphoenix I dunno, I want to give Moore enough credit to argue that he wanted to give a "balanced" portrayal of what's ultimately a corrupted, mad dog vigilante. So Rorschach is allowed to have some genuinely badass moments, and kills some truly vile monsters, but ultimately we're supposed to look down on him because he's supposedly low-status, and fascist.

     The Alan Moore that wrote that in the 80s was okay with people seeing what they wanted to, and was determined to represent Steve Ditko's world view as fairly as he could. They were all suppose to be well meaning but flawed dipshits.
     
     Modern day Alan Moore would have made Rorschach rape a nigger to death for using a Whites only fountain.
