@YeetLibs The poor aesthetic came from the harsh economic reality faced by American Protestants, especially Reformed, Methodists, and Baptists. There are some beautiful Protestant churches though, even in America. Have you been to Charleston? That historic city has plenty of pretty Protestant churches, like First Scots Presbytarian Church, first pic.*
* Protestant and orthodox at the time of construction. I can't vouch for the theological purity of the church now.
Edit: Looking through the First Scots website, they seem to be decent with the fundamentals, thankfully. Episcopalians are FUBAR'd and I don't need to tell you that.
HOWEVER here is a church in a no name town ft Laramie Ohio that is absolutely stunning inside and out only for the glory of God. It also houses a fully body relic of a Saint that there is not much known about
@SuperSnekFriend@YeetLibs do you ever notice why kingdom halls keep closing near you? They are in serious decline and can't shake the doomsday cult image
Probably harder than scientology given they have more locations
@SuperSnekFriend@YeetLibs they've had multiple former members literally go postal, bottlegate, the pedo scandal where leadership had a secret database of pedos, and more.
@Pawlicker@YeetLibs Jehovah Witnesses are another can worms entirely. Have they ever recovered from their anti-pope getting arrested for heavy corruption and fraud?
@mint@Pawlicker@SuperSnekFriend@YeetLibs This place is nuts, by the way. I went for a little stroll on street view because Gold Base is split by a public road going right through the middle. You can see for yourself by punching in 19712 Gilman Springs Road.
- License plate reader? - Cameras, lights, fences, motion sensors out the ass. - Someone casually watching the traffic. - More high end defenses. - Very beefy entrances.
@YeetLibs Look past the "Mormon" aspect and see them as religious Americans. Their work, for all their weirdness, is extremely cool and underappreciated today.
Everyone else can say "aw we're too impoverished and poor to build a giant monument of worship to our god"
These kooky fags WALKED across america - not wagoned, not rode, WALKED AN ACTUAL HANDCART LIKE VIETNAMESE PEASANTS - and cut out giant blocks of granite by hand to start building this thing.
They knew they wouldn't complete it in their lifetimes, or even their children's, maybe grandchildren's, but they did the work anyway.
