   1) everybody uses docx with borked/retarded formatting that works only in word
   2) most of the people got used to shitty ribbon interface and behavior

     People just won't do it.
     
     But also, windows wraps you up in pay walls and makes it hard to move your data. Word Doc documents literally only work in Microsoft Office because it is a stupid and gay software.
