@7666 @feld @lain @TechConnectify @deutrino @Moon over zealous servers like those are dead and people need to stop pointing new users there, it's full of the most angst filled, insufferable and vicious social media terrorists.
they give the network the bad rep everyone that has yet to join is familiar with.

@Moon @TechConnectify @deutrino @feld @lain correction: i got mstdn.social and mas.to mixed up - i fucking hate how everything's mastodon over there
no clue why mas.to blocked me

@Moon @feld @lain @TechConnectify @deutrino i'm still disappointed he chose a shitty instance (stux is a retard) so i can't see his posts but he's right in that he shouldn't have to play fedi politics and spend hours trying to get a good experience
the problem is that "good experience" is subjective and that people get exponentially louder about their needs the more esoteric those needs are so you have to deal with pleasing 95% of people or catering to the 5% making 95% of the noise requiring 95% of the effort
tooling is one way to fix it - if mastodon just had an akkoma style "block this domain locally" button i bet he'd have a better experience immediately - put fediblock into the hands of the users as easily as possible without breaking the fundamental nature of federation at a server level - if they want to stick their heads in the sand i'm not gonna stop them but that choice should still be ultimately made by the user as a balance between "full freedom" and "full moderation" based on what the user is trying to accomplish
