what disappoints me most is that TAILS OS uses it, although at least theirs is quirky ones of users secretly communicating with each other while camping

Former head of NSA joins OpenAI board
#OpenAI has appointed Paul M. Nakasone, a retired general of the US Army and a former head of the National Security Agency (NSA), to its board of directors.
Nakasone, who was nominated to lead the NSA by former President Donald Trump, directed the agency from 2018 until February of this year.

@Moon makes me wish my whole "selfhost all the things" plan didn't necessarily depend on a reverse proxy at a data center... or on Tailscale, Cloudflare et al if I want to do it "the other way" @coolboymew

Musk not serious about cage fight; time to move on, Zuckerberg says
“I offered a real date. [Ultimate Fighting Championship boss] Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity,” Zuckerberg said on Threads.
He is trained in mixed martial arts, posting about completing his first jiujitsu tournament earlier this year.
“Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead,” Zuckerberg said.

Instead of obtaining a warrant, the NSA would like to keep buying your data
An effort by US lawmakers to prevent government agencies from tracking citizens without a search warrant is opposed by the #NSA.
Last month it was revealed that US intelligence agencies were avoiding judicial review by purchasing a “large amount” of “sensitive and intimate information” on Americans, including data that can be used to trace people’s whereabouts.

Google develops free terrorism-moderation tool for smaller websites
The move comes as Internet companies will be forced to remove extremist content under laws such as the Digital Services Act in the EU, new last November, and the UK’s Online Safety bill, which may become law this year.
The new regulatory regime has led to concerns that smaller start-ups are not equipped to comply and that a lack of resources will limit their ability to compete with larger tech firms.
