   I'm not ontologically committed to a bull case for Russia but it strikes me that the best bear case is several thousand Abrams and "we don't want pictures of our baby getting blown up" strikes me as too short sighted of a reason for it not to happen. They're literally there for WW3, when exactly are they going to be put to better use? 2000 properly crewed Abrams would be one hell of a headache for Russian command
   
   Ultimately I'm going to read their absence from the Ukraine as an implicit indictment of the Ukrainian government by NATO. "We don't trust you not to fuck this up" even though NATO is basically straight up running the operational and maybe even the strategic planning. Which just makes it even more insane that the policy is rejection of Russia's pathway to de escalation

     @WashedOutGundamPilot Usgov is ramping up military production for a 2025 target date. Leaving aside how realistic that is qua industrial policy, ~18 months is hypothetically long enough to make proper tank crews out of median Slavs

     @DK_Dharmaraj More than enough, probably. I’m amazed they’re willing to wait that long. I thought the brit timetable was already accelerated at 6 months or so, and they couldn’t get them back soon enough.

     IDK what the average slave is like, intelligence wise, seems to be a wide gap between the upper and lower ones so maybe they’ll do alright if they pick the right guys to command each one.

     @RowdyRamzan @DK_Dharmaraj I’m really surprised if they don’t have some older M1s to throw around, I really think it’s a pride issue. They’ve been making them forever, there’s gotta be some old spec ones rotting away in the desert somewhere in the southwest.

     Right now these boomers LIVE on twitter, they love retweeting those “hahah look at these old ass russian T64’s they’re soooooo shitty and poor and old ewwwwwww lol” pics, they would NOT like seeing the cold war champion with holes blown all in it.

     If you think about the imagery it’s interesting. These stakeholders grew up thinking that the abrams would annihilate the russians, now in their 60’s and 70’s they may actually get to see it… maybe they’re losing their nerve when they realize it’s probably not gonna go as well as they thought the javelin. No the artillery. Okay, no, the guided munitions. Okay, the patriot missiles….

     @weaf @DK_Dharmaraj Patriot missile systems are my favorite so far, I don't even think they're really going to be useful with the drones or missile barrages that are coming in. Like maybe it would've helped a year ago but now it just seems like a target for a 20k drone

     @DK_Dharmaraj I'm pretty much convinced all of these equipment donations are political decisions and not military decisions. Every military has been dragging it's feet to send anything substantial.

     @RowdyRamzan @weaf One of the legitimate big mistakes of the early phases of the war was not doing nearly enough SEAD. Surovikin (an Air Force general) put a dramatic final end to that mistake.

     @DK_Dharmaraj @RowdyRamzan @WashedOutGundamPilot @officalNIGR One possible explanation is our old domestic tanks -- not export versions -- still have classified tech in them and it may not be easy to strip that out. I was in a combined arms brigade with a tank platoon in my infantry company and they made a big deal about not letting random joes see certain parts of the tank during maintenance
