     @Kirino @WandererUber @moomin From what I recall from genetics class, it’s not entirely wrong? I think the optimum distance is in the neighborhood of single-digit cousin relations, like 6-9th. You end up getting the best of your own greater genome w/ enough diversity.

     IRL experience has tended to prove that out to me, pretty much all my biggest problem-child friends were some kind of half-breed

So if you disrupt half the chromosome with some negroids watermelon digestion enzyme, your kids gonna have all kinds of issues by default. (aside from the obvious that niggers are dumb and aggressive and your kid would inherit this)
     From what I gather, hybrid vigor only works when farmers have "inbred" individuals, only selected for their traits, not general fitness or genetic distance. So I really don't understand the genetic *benefit* for 6th cousins over brother and sister. I can't count the number of homestead videos and wildlife docs I've seen where this happens and I have never seen them lament a cronenbergian aberration that spawned from it.
     
     Maybe someone crunched the numbers somewhere but I've never seen it.

     It took me a bit to get over the ickiness of it, but I at least understand it now. And some of the stories are pretty cute, if you just pretend not to hear every time the MC says “my sister”.      @WandererUber @Kirino @moomin The guy that got me thinking about it originally was a hapafren talking about how most of the time he was invisible and unseen, quietly sitting in the back….but hated that about himself. He didn’t WANT to be like that, but he just couldn’t get his brain to put himself out there and be the class clown, to make a scene, to be in front of the camera.

     It makes sense, because his chinese ancestors had to survive that way much more than his american cowboy ones
