Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks (washedoutgundampilot@poa.st)'s status on Thursday, 26-Oct-2023 04:54:17 JST Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks @bleedingphoenix Super late, holy shit. Should have come out with this 7 years ago to strike while the iron’s hot. Audience has aged out of their furor for the franchise already

Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks (washedoutgundampilot@poa.st)'s status on Thursday, 26-Oct-2023 05:01:14 JST Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks @bleedingphoenix That doesn’t really matter, though, because it was a youthful franchise when it was super popular. That demographic rise and fall affects all this stuff tailored to the 10-15 yo cohort. If you mistime it then it flops, because they’re 1000% into it for a very short window, and then they never look at it again.
This is almost the first time they’re hitting on zoomer nostalgia, I guess. Accelerated timeline, since the kid they THINK they’re marketing to is 24 instead of 14.
(I’m fuzzy on the dates tho)

WhiteExodite (bleedingphoenix@wolfgirl.bar)'s status on Thursday, 26-Oct-2023 05:01:15 JST WhiteExodite @WashedOutGundamPilot if i remember the story correctly they've tried making it a couple times, but each time Scott Cawthon gave it a thumbs down: those movies were then repurposed into Banana Split and Willy's Wonderland. this is the "the creator finally likes it" final product. -
DrScarGazer (drscargazer@poa.st)'s status on Thursday, 26-Oct-2023 05:02:29 JST DrScarGazer @bleedingphoenix @WashedOutGundamPilot Probably closer to a "creator doesn't care if it hurts the brand anymore" final product. Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks likes this. -

Legacy media companies are NOT equipped to capitalize on internet trends, and they don’t have any idea how to.

Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks (washedoutgundampilot@poa.st)'s status on Thursday, 26-Oct-2023 05:05:25 JST Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks @bleedingphoenix That’s why I’m saying they’re cutting it short. The internet has accelerated fads, they used to geographically carry through the US in a kind of wave, coming outward from the coasts and then hitting the interior after a couple years. Now it’s happening way faster, so the craze came and went in half the time they would normally see it.
10 years is plenty for nostalgia, just look at songs older than 3 years. You have 20 year old kids talking about getting weepy in the comments of a song from 2015, saying “aw man we didn’t know how good we had it ugggggggghhhhhh“.
Everyone wants escapism, things are rough
