   Diamonds crack as easily as cheap quartz: go corundum (sapphire or ruby) for the best balance of durability and resistance to scratching. Alexandrite of chrysoberyl is even tougher. Diamond doesn't even crack the Top 5.

     @Ghislaine @BroDrillard @poastoak @PunishedD @WashedOutGundamPilot This table shows resistance to impact and torsion, or what we call toughness in a gem.

     Impact is what will fuck your stone: scratches can always be polished out by any gem cutter.
