pretty decent gameplay so far. i really like the art, the music is ok
something i wanted to nitpick tho; the chibi sprites for both the protagonist and the cat girl have jitome eyes but their tachi-e art don’t, i’m sorta disappointed by that
also the world and its people have some weird ass standards. cat girls and fairies existing are apparently pretty normal stuff but talking bunny girls aren’t apparently.
@lapin The Rabi-Ribi experience, stumbling into midgame content and dying horribly (which you could avoid by following the "advice" characters give to you but why do that). Gonna have to get very used to seeing that screen. :flan_smug2:
starting to think going here was a mistake :akko_aah:
should’ve just teleported back home and stock up on items but noooo my brain was like “just keep exploring bro what’s the worst that could happen lmao”
after taking a sneak peek at some guides, it turns out the “rating system” isn’t really a rating system; it’s just a glorified combo meter. the more combos you have (and it involves equipping navi with the laser sword thing to help maintain the combo chain easier) the more damage your melee weapon does
so anyway i went back to these two bosses and beat them thoroughly
(and i didnt manage to read the fuckin exposition monologue before the noah fight i was too busy shitting my pants “OH GOD WTF AM I GOING TO FIGHT NEXT”)
@lapin Get ready, because there's postgame story content. also as for the story you did miss, Miru was one of Erina's "masters" since both her and Rumi lived together, so there was your motivation for saving her. Miru disappearing also happened as Erina became a bunny girl instead of a bunny, so the hope was to solve what happened with that by saving Miru. As for the dialogue, nobody can read that shit while actually doing the fight, so a video it is. https://invidious.varishangout.net/watch?v=OjXaZJku97g Also as you've now beaten the game, it's fun to mention that this game is full of references to a few other bunny games. Originally it was going to have a difficulty called "Bunny Must Die" referencing the game of the same name, and Miru's entire fight is in part a reference to Irisu Syndrome.
what i thought was a neat series of throwback stages turned out to be a fuckin endurance run. long ass stages with no save points, all the bosses you’ve fought appeared as some sorts of minibosses, i’ve used all my health items prematurely
kinda embarrassing to admit but i cheesed most of the later stages by just using ranged attacks far away from any of the enemies
@lapin Since the thought has entered my mind, now that you're in postgame would be a good time to cover what each DLC does. Cicini's Halloween is entirely free, adds additional eggs, a new badge, a new area, new badge, new outfit, and a new bonus boss, all halloween themed.
Is the order a DLC adds 2 chapters, additional outfits to equip, 4 new items, and a new area (outfits are unlocked immediately, the rest of the stuff in the extra chapters take place after the base game postgame chapters).
The artbook adds a digital artbook and portrait viewer into the game, with tons of notes and such to enjoy. Contrary to the name though, it also adds strange bonus content, such as unique playable boss rush characters, some unused content, and some unused modes to play through. It comes with wallpapers for most of the named characters too.
Before Next Adventure adds an entirely new mode, Cocoa Mode in which the entire game is playable as her with an entirely reworked moveset and various reworked items (no story though, so it's just a fun side mode). It also adds extra CGs (mostly for the Bunny EX mode difficulty), a new costume, more ribbon costumes, and special bosses to challenge after clearing postgame for that extra bit of suffering.
Beyond that, there's the free Tevi DLC to add one additional outfit, and the Orchestra mode DLC that adds another outfit along with the ability to play the game with Orchestral arrangements of around half the OST. Neither as important as the rest but still neat. And have some cute screenshots of the original art done by the main dev before getting a dedicated artist
@Iffine tbf it was when i first bought this game, no way i would just immediately buy any DLCs before i even knew if the game was going to be good or not
tho i’ll grab the free ones after i’m done with all the post-game content
@lapin :cirno_cry: damn, that sucks. game frequently goes on sale with any big sale and a number of small sales though, so if you need the discount it'll probably be on sale in a month to month and a half.
@lapin She's a funny one, with a very specific gimmick for the masochists out there. Rabi-Ribi supports a nightmarish run called "0%", in which the only items you're allowed to obtain are story mandated ones (Ribbon, Base Bunny Amulet, etc.) and the eggs. Since Miriam here only uses items you have, if you come in with no items, entire chunks of the fight are just nothing. Outside of that run yeah she's a pain.
ok so some strats from steam forum advise me to get all the buffs from miru cuz the boss can’t actually copy them
also (and i somewhat noticed this too during that shitshow of a fight but) there’s a part in the fight where miriam hijacked ribbon and made her starting shooting shitstorm at you BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU CURRENTLY HAVE :akko_derp:
so i’ve eaten all the health items and made myself dirt poor. let’s rerun this shit
@ninja8tyu@lapin +1 to this, this is actually a trick that works on quite a few bosses. Badges are actually part of determining the calculation for the bosses' levels in this game. Also Miriam doesn't copy all badges, just a select few. RabiDB is your friend. https://rabidb.com/entry?id=165
the whole “fight all the bosses all over again” aside, this bitch got 6 WHOLE ASS LIFE BARS. you fight her on the ground 3 times, and in the air horizontal shmup style 3 times. the shmup parts were significantly easier, but they were nerve wrecking still…
thankfully there was no “remove badges and health items” bs this time around so
after several tries (and some rage moments here and there for good measures) i finally beat her
in a way she was somewhat easier than Rumi (tho that doesnt really say much), what’s not easy was the trial and error of remembering which of her attack patterns inflict debuffs to you or instakill you. the use of amulets was not only recommended, it was necessary as shit
the final part of her fight has you simply having to survive her spell card attack within time limit. what an extra boss she was
@lapin Good Job  Item completion is absolute hell, to the point I'd have to suggest a dedicated run just for it in which you follow a guide from start to finish. The dev was far too keen on adding items.
@Iffine well i got the thing from the big titties maid where it tells you where all the hidden items are, and it’s pretty fun treasure hunting like this
tho as for the easter eggs i will just look up a guide or something lol
note to my future self: NEVER try to go for 100% AFTER beating the game
like the game said all boss encounters are reset, so oh you think you can just peacefully explore for items and shit? SIKE HERE’S AN UNAVOIDABLE BOSS BATTLE
and even with a guide getting all the easter eggs are such a pain in the ass, two instances i had to go through 2 ENTIRE DUNGEONS ALL OVER AGAIN BECAUSE I MISSED SOME EASTER EGGS THE FIRST TIME AROUND
the only stuff i miss are the rest of the eggs which i believe is on the DLC halloween stages, and an item that is only obtainable on Cocoa mode
@lapin There's no exclusive items (I think you're missing the halloween DLC badge) and yeah it seems the rest of the eggs are for Halloween DLC. If you don't want to hate yourself, get a guide for it. the DLC is another dungeon, with no warps. If you miss an egg, it's the entire thing again.
