     Reflective of the people, the urbanism, the culture, etc.

     Probably connects to the fact they’re a tiny postage stamp country, so there’s no archaic standard of guest treatment, welcoming a traveler from afar. To them, it’s just a simple matter of dividing costs, because their home isn’t theirs to lend out freely. It’s a rental in the city, so why wouldn’t you have someone pay a portion?

     Would you let him stay in the other bed in your hotel room for free?

     But most of us hail from a state that takes 5 times longer to traverse than their entire country. It’s normal for people to travel, for us to have a lot of extra space, some spare rooms, tons of food in the pantry.

     City people like this live hand to mouth, do a daily grocery run for the essentials, and never spend a full day driving a car across the land. I can almost get why the bugman wouldn’t feel like he isn’t entitled to recompense. His “friends” are more like biz associates, anyways. He lives in a glorified hotel room in the city, he doesn’t have his own conveyance, all these little things that belie a total lack of autonomy, like a college student living off his parents.

     I'd say it's jewish, but it's not even that because jews know a thing or two about helping each other out.
     
     It's some White guy with terminal brain damage caused by jewish propaganda for individualism.
     
     Friends and relatives are a support network. If you make it purely transactional/financial they won't be there for you when you need them unless you can pay.
     
     We have relatives coming over for an extended visit. We feed and house them fo free and show them the local sights fo free. If they want to go to fucking Disney it's on them.
