     @coolboymew@shitposter.club I remember seeing a MAL review where someone complained the movie was a direct adaptation with no filler. And not in a "the pacing is too fast and no good transition between scenes" kinda way.
     
     Literally just mad that the movie adapted every single detail from the manga and didn't add some random character or story arc to be unique.

     @Weeble to be fair tho', anime movies of arcs that's already been animated are usually for people who already has seen the material, they're extremely fast paced retelling that skips over things and has movie quality. It's a really weird market

     And actually, for the main characters (not sure beyond that) Oda actually had in mind an equivalence of where they would be located in the real world and Oda gave that list to the production

     @coolboymew@shitposter.club I think recap movies are dumb and a waste. There's no point outside of using recycled footage for a quick buck.
     
     I was talking about Doukyuusei or the black butler book of atlantic movie. Where the source material is short and thats the only adaptation of it.
     
     But the MAL review is dumb cuz they think just adapting across a medium isn't enough to warrant an adaptation.
     
     Like watching characters move, emote, speak is cool and way diff from a manga and there's plenty of manga I've completed but would love to see animated regardless.
