@Pawlicker Call me retarded as much as you want, just gimme tools that work, holy shit I don’t have time to play w/ computers, I have better things to do
@Pawlicker Yeah, yeah, so what does? Gnome has sucked but has demanded the least amount of my time so far….I give it a C+ on a good day, but I wasn’t too impressed by the rest of tthe field
@mischievoustomato I’ve liked aspects of it but getting Gnome to just work takes some extensions, and not everything plays nice. I know someone who can’t drag and drop files on his, and mine’s now having some issue w/ wifi connections where it has to be rebooted in order to connect again.
I don’t have the patience for that kind of thing, but it’s still only marginally better than the other options…a C+ in an ocean of C’s. An A+ OS would be one that only requires 10 hours of debugging and tweaking every 5 years, with nearly zero downtime
@WashedOutGundamPilot the thing is that gnome is just the DE. the wifi issues and other stuff could be other things fucking up. on linux many things are just coupled together. Also i just use gnome vanilla without extensions lel. honestly, using linux requires dedication sometimes. the wifi issue you mentioned sounds like a classic realtek moment
@mischievoustomato While I love using computers as a tool, I have very little patience for them stealing my time. I really hate how the bar has risen to require hours of learning just to have the same experience we had 10 years ago. You’re supposed to be an IT guy in order to have any modicum of reliable functionality, performance, and privacy.
I don’t like how so many computer nerds are content to let things lie. It might gatekeep retards, but now the scene is rife with trannies anyways, so what’s the point
