Probably a much bigger deal to the twitterites who project their own obsessive hobby mindset on the dude in the trench who just daydreams about being home for christmas to see his GF (who’s in germany clubbing w/ turkish pimps)

     It's almost certainly true. Prigozhyn talked about shelling his location they somehow heard about. Then couple days later the Ukrainians were talking about making him Hero of Ukraine. (posthumously?)

     I expected them to be more careful about such a high ranking officer. This is basically payback for the time when the Ukrainians killed Russian generals based on location info from the US.

     @DW2 @Terry Something I’ve always seen is that the management, the officer corps always projects their careerist admiration for their commanders upon the lower rungs and enlisted. Managers care about sucking up to the executives, while the guys working the line don’t care if he gets turned into cat food.

     I’d bet a convo w/ the guys in the trenches would reveal a lot of “huh? Who cares? They’ll replace him with another suck-up chode from kiev”. They’re only hiding it because the careerists project their silliness on the guys actually doing the work and pulling the triggers.

     They think they’re doing it to preserve the morale of the troops, but they’re really doing it for the twitter cheerleaders and politicians.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @DW2 @Terry From the enlisted memoirs I have read it would seem that only Cpts and Lts are really on the footslogger radar. Any greater responsibility is likely out of their awareness or fatalistically accepted; company and platoon commanders are the ones who coordinate and hold up their little patch of hell and so it's them that'll inspire, or break, the moral of a rifleman.
