     i was seeing discussion about this recently on something else. in Resident Evil 4, the castle is brightly lit and ornate, and it relies on the camera's limits to evoke paranoia about your surroundings; RE4 Remake ditches this to go for dark shadows and blood. the Shining is the same way, and the version made for TV featured the shadows and cobwebs. the Backrooms is the same, zoomers made a safe-for-TV version of the original meme.
