     @deprecated_ii @professionalbigot69 @Turdicus I maintain that it’s community and networking. I met mine through my parents and family friends, their daughter was kinda lost and listless and I got the vibe that everyone saw that she’s the type to sit and spin her wheels without some kind of structure or guidance.

     Before her, the only good experiences I had came about the same way. Neighbor’s granddaughter used to help her out on the weekends, or an in-law’s sister was newly single and I was tapped in to “show her was a good guy is like”.

     I’m not even sure anything else works anymore, actually. The longer I think back, the more I realize that most of my actual date-dates came from a referral. Hell, I had a friend sit next to a girl on a plane, and get me her number just by talking through him, she was complaining about her ex and he set us up. We dated for a while before she moved for school.

Sure, they’re sloppy and they have bad habits, you’ll have to provide some guidance, but they’re probably one of the best deals on the dating market right now.

     I have some cool things on the horizon in my life that are only here because of the ties I built with total strangers. Offering favors, being the kind of person people want to be around, it tends to open doors. Before you know it you get texts asking if you’re interested in “showing maddie around the city while she’s on a layover” or replacing a coworker once his contract’s up in a couple months.

     I often tell kids to develop a skill or career to the point they can train others, because it does wonders for your confidence and bearing. You seem like a professional, cool, and calm, and in control of your surroundings when you’ve done something to the point of mastery. You just keep truckin’ on and one day you just realize
